Last year I bulked, my diet consisted of high protein high fat (no supplements)
I used a lot of dairy sources, a fav being bacon and cheese sandwiches, lots of cheese, fried eggs with cheese on top, mmm
This year i'd like to bulk again but with less fats. For health reasons more than anything.
I'm thinking of buying a bulk tub of protein and mixing with it natural yoghurt and fresh fruit. Cost is an issue.
breakfast: cereal + protein yoghurt
snack :protein yoghurt fruit
lunch: meat and cheese sandwhich
snack: protein yoghurt fruit
dinner: meat veg or rice and noodles
supper: cheese on toast or scrambled eggs or similar.
Is the protein powder cost effective? has anyone looked into it?
Whey consortium sell 5kg of 75% for £34 delivered.
I normally don't bother with it but I'm considering giving it a try.

Yes,I think it is,I'm on 200g+whey a day,and thats costing me less than £35/month
That plan needs more 'healthy' fats and veg, and also to remember to vary your food sources daily
There's no need to base your diet around 1 protein source, but powders can often be good for convenience

Yeah agreed, i'm not saying thats gonna be ate everyday just an example. Peanuts make good snacks and peanut butter and banana makes a luvly sarnie washed down with a glass of milk.

Cheers Fred, I missed that when I looked at myprotein.
I've done some sums based on 80% protein from myprotein
If I take 150grams of protein powder per day for 5 day per week (weekends off, give the digestive system and kidneys a rest).
Thats 120g protein extra (80% of 150g)
5kg tub costing £36 will last for 6.7 weeks (5000g/750g (150gx5days))equalling £5.30 per week
So I think I will give it a go, I think 6 weeks is enough time to come to some conclusion about any benefits of a high protein diet.
Roll on the high protein bulk!

i wasnt impressed with what i bought from myprotein, so much so that i binned a practically untouched tub, I know thats just me and taste is very subjective. Maybe buy a small amount of what you want first

5kg of protein arrived today, I plan on taking 150g per day, just weighed it out and its a lot of powder. Mixed it with a tub of yoghurt and put it back in the fridgde to settle. I plan on adding various fruits and perhaps putting it in the freezer to eat ice cream style.
How do you eat yours?
Phil
