From Louie Simmons article on chains and bands:

"A special note: Lower the bar fast and try to catch and reverse the weight as fast as possible. Never pause."

I thought the point of DE work was to blast off from the bottom as you would if you were in a competition, i.e. slightly paused?

Remember that with all things Westside, you need to look at the reason for the technique being advocated, understand it in the context of what the Westside boys train for and then conclude if the intended result is relevant or helpful for your training goals.

I'd suggest that the method of DE benching you've described is fine for heavily equipped lifters who touch-and-go in comp, but less ideal for lightly equipped or raw benchers, especially those who use a pause on the chest.

scourge covered it good, imo that sort of ballistic benching will injure the uneducated. praticice the pause imo, its get you used to doing it and you have to overcome the strecth reflex.
