how many of you bodybuilder types track your rest times? plan your rest times along with the rest of your workouts?

LOL cheers Rob

what about this, something I've been thinking about

say i was doing this back workout

pull up 5x5 120s RI
row 5x5 120s RI

do that for 4 weeks, then change to

pull up 5x5 60s RI
row 5x5 60s RI

density has obviously gone up and intensity gone down, what about making it 7x5 for that training block?

thats not a bad idea i suppose. personally i don;t set the rets periods, i just do it when i feel ready. for the first few sets its literally 10seconds or so, as long as changig the plates take and having a swig of my drink, for the remainder of the session i count to 50 in my head or listen to part of a song and just get it on. i dont like set rest periods purely becuase sometimes yur psched up to lift at 45seconds,a nd that may have decreased by the time your 60 seconds comes around, other times you might need 65 seconds, etc etd.

i like alex's thing about DE sessions, up the weight when your ready, not when your program says so, i have the same feelings about volume and density. obviosuly the ai long term is to increase both, but there is no nmeed to get too caught up in whatever..

I'm trying to stick to 60seconds, easier on the small exercises but hard on the squats.

I think I might have to up the squat rest to 120, that'll let my breathing come down.

So I think you should wait just enough time for your breathing to normalise, there are probably better ways to increase productivity rather than limiting your rest and rushing your workout.

I expect different people require different recovery times between sets.

i have a stop watch/timer. for MaxEffort i generally take 1-2 mins between sets and then when it gets heavier 3 mins plus or when i feel ready.

for RE i sometimes take 1 min sometimes 2 and sometimes a lot less. depends if im rushed for time.
