Guys,

After I have got convinced that i should buy a Power rack, I have been looking out for the cheapest available online and this is the one
http://www.ukfitnesssupplies.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/UKFitnessSuppliesLtd/PLPPR178W/55755

This rack claims to support 1000lbs as I found out by calling them but looking at the safety catcher rods which are quite slim, I doubt that they will cope if I have to bail out and drop a 200-300Kg weight on them.

Or do you think they can. I have never used a power rack before so wanted to have your opinion about it.

Cheers
Rugbylad Sam

Hmm it's exactly the same as the body solid one, they won't break, they may bend a little over time, it won't be as strong, stable or adjustable as the pro one, but it'll do the job

Good rack it will be fine, 1000lns probably refers to static pressure and certainly not chucking 300kg intoit from head height, but tbh if you have 300kg up in the air you are Rogue!

Well I am not saying that I can lift 300Kg but hypothetically the safety bars of the rack should be able to support as much weight as the rack lift off pins can.

i would say so, if you ditch a ridiculaous amount of weight into any rack you will bend some thing, most likely your barbell will give before the rack as i know justin bent his 700lbs rated bar dropping it whilst doing overhead squats, 80kg iir

I've had it for about a year now.. It's fine for me. I'm not the strongest bloke, probably the most I've "dropped" is about 200kg whilst doing rack pulls so it didn't fall far..

I'm very happy with mine. Good for doing pin presses, bench, squat etc etc..

I'd recommend it for the money..

I was going to buy brand new but all the stuff that I wanted was on ebay one day so I got myself a bargain...

Mine is a Body Solid flat and incline one. Pretty much the same as the second one but just flat and incline.

I like it a lot as it's very solid and better than the ones I used to use at my old gym. It's a nice width so you feel more secure when benching etc..

My rack is Body Solid as well but it's the same as the powerline one so I think my stuff would've been kind of budget Body Solid stuff..

I wouldn't mind getting a decline bench but at the moment I just put some blocks under the feet to make a decline. Plus I don't do a massive amount of decline work.

I also got my weights from there as well. I had a 140kg set with the stuff I got from ebay and then ordered another 100kg of Olympic weight for £100, that included delivery so pleased with that.

I also have some standard weight and dumbbell, barbell set from Argos - York it is.. Bought an extra 8 x 10kg plates. So I now have dumbbells that go up to 53kg each.

I have the second bench, it is excellent if not quite high being the only oddity, i use it for declined situps too which is handy

Its almost uncanny how I never find right stuff on eBay.

Plus all these weight stuff is local pickup only and I live in one corner of Engalnd, but the most beautiful one ;) Devon! and rarely someone from this part of the country sell weight stuff on eBay.
