In the past few weeks I have been applying surgical spirit to my savaged hands (thank you Mr Deadlift :D ) . It has helped to harden the callouses and I also feel it probably provides a slight psychological boost.

Does anyone else use surgical spirit on their paws? I recommend it.

I also found grapefruit seed oil was very useful in actually healing my hands.

I paused every rep on my 3 rep bench. What's wrong with that?

P.S. When you first came to the AS forum you were a nice guy, you've now turned into a very cold, callous individual. What happened?

LMAO i was never a nice guy, just a bastard keeping quiet for a while, there's no need to pause for that long unless you are actually paused benching, just touch, stop, and go

Surgical spirit can help harden the hands which is what i think rayza is asking, imo it is fine to use this, mine and DMPM's hands are not in a good shape after todays deads and rack pulls both of us have pretty tough hands but they can always be tougher

As for Narc, who removes his callouses, I just spoke to my dad who played tennis for years without any hand problems. He told me that callouses are hard skin, and that removing them will expose soft, weak skin that will easily rupture. Not a good idea.

Harden your skin, it is one of your body's defense mechanisms.

If i don't bite them off they rip off while i'm lifting, which would you choose?
Plus eating the skin of a god has to be good for you...

If you don't cut your callouses off or file them down then they'll rip off when you're deadlifting and leave raw sore bits where the callouses were. I think your father means don't cut them too short, just back to their normal thickness.
