View Full Version : Living without whey!
I'm going to give it a try to be honest, I'm getting sick of paying for a drink that resembles toilet water and drains, I'd sooner buy more eggs or tins of oily fish.
Anybody else abstained from it for a while?
Don't use much at all now to be honest. I have some kicking around to use in a pinch but get plenty of.protein from food. My favourite at the min is finding reduced beef roasting joints and cooking them at the start of the week, plenty protein for a few days at least!

i didnt use any supps for a long time and it didnt hurt me at all, i'm using protein powder again now purely for convenience
beef jerky, peanut butter, reduced cans of stewed steak and similar; blue top milk
i didnt use whey for the past couple of training years, and only started using it to replace breakfast so i could drink it on the move.
its sooo overrated, useful for tidying up the diet in an easy way but otherwise definitely not essential.
I suppose I got lazy, but for now it's strictly tinned fish or pots of cottage cheese for snacks between meals!
I only use it as it's a cheaper option to meet protein targets. I mean where else can you get around 70-80g of protein for 70p.
Yup agree with LA. Cheap and convenient to have at my desk job. at the same time though I personally wouldn't have beyond 100-120g a day.

I think that this is a very important point. It's cheap, it's easy, you NEED protein to be a big (muscular) boy.
Adding in 50-100g in whey every day is easy and might make the difference, it's foolish not to do it for the price and conveinience.
With regards to the toilet water taste, get a smoothie maker (~£15, I have a kenwood smoothie2go, it has lasted 18 months so far) add 250ml water/milk (dependant on dietry need/want), portion of fruit (I've found that blueberries and bananas work well together), 2/3 eggs (can not taste them and they make you badass), ~50ml EVOO (agin, dependant on your current aim)... blend 20-30 seconds, enjoy. Very tasty, very good.
Could make 'green' shakes too if you bum being a healthy bastard, add kale, spinach etc... drink 7 litres of green tea too, you'll feel properly good and that isn't it.
