To protect the shoulder joint?
This would include movements like dumbbell pressing with a hammer grip, overhead dumbbell pressing, and dips as opposed to bench pressing, and overhead barbell pressing

All my DB stuff is done this way. Always has been. Its far easier and more natural for me.

EDIT: Also, all my DB things are done with the DB's as close to my body as possible.

i've always used this grip, and in 18 years of training, i've never had shoulder problems, not gonna change now!
