Andy posted this on his facebook feed a while back I think?

Anyway, I really like the look of these Farmers walk type conditioning circuits, gonna throw a couple in at the end of workouts. A useful T-Nation article for a change!

They work really well had a few people doing them, they are a great finisher.

The ones on the T-Nation article all sound a bit light though; can't be that tough a farmer's walk if you are going to be pressing them for reps for conditioning? Can't see the walking element being that tough. Would it not be better to do some heavier farmer's walk and just switch implements per station on the circuit?

Thought that myself actually.

Which is what?

its a metabolic finisher

thats like saying the barbell weight for the bear is too light for the deadlifts and squats

But what's metabolic about walking 20 yards with something that weighs bugger all? Granted I've never actually tried it though.

whats metabolic about doing a barbell complex with 30kg?

its the same thing, its the on going effort, the duration under load.

Speed of reps is what seems to knacker me on BB complexes; I guess I should just try them both and see what I think.

I think it's worth remembering this is designed as conditioning too, rather than strength endurance work.

then do the ****ing thing fast!

adequate load + speed + time under load = elevated heart rate
