Session today:

140 180 220 260 270 280 290 300 310xF 305x4seconds

All the rest were for 10 seconds. That PR is nearly 35kg over my last one. The 310xF was ony because the bar bent so much, when I locked out it wasn't even off the pins! DOH. Need a stronger bar.

Do you find any benefits by performing these then Rob?

I've never seen the point in them myself. The main reason being that if you were to dead lift the weight then you are getting a solid overall body workout that strengthens just about everything whereas these static holds give you a false sense and are also inviting injury as you are not used to holding that sort of weight.

Basically they are just there to keep my grip strength waaaay above my deadlift strength. IMO, failing a DL because your gip gave out is a sorry ass excuse if ever I heard one. My DL is only about 200kg and I DL from the floor as often as I can, its my favourite exercise by a loooong way. I would never have rack pulls/static holds without proper DLing in too.

Today I did some deadlifts form the floor up to 185, then some rack pulls from below the knee with 150* (my weakness is floor-knee, above that, I always lock it out), then some static holds. They are great for grip strength and ensure that I am used to mega weight (relative to my DL) so as not to get injured.

*For some GAY reason, I can't pull more than 160 from below the knee (off the pins) and yet I can pull 180 like its nothing, off the floor.

Any pointers on getting my rack pulls up up up will be much appreciated?

EDIT: Any pointers on a deadlift day full stop will be muchos gracias.
