A while ago i had a problem with my shoulder, it turned out to be the sub-scap part of the rotator cuff. My g/f's a physio so i luckily had diagnoses on-hand. Her hypothesis was that during benching the ball of the humerous is under great pressure to come forward/upward (i.e. away from the body at 90degrees) when the bar is on the way down. As theres no bone to prevent it from doing this, it is part of the sub-scaps job. It was benching that hurt every time. I took some time out, followed by some lower body only time, then did some rotation re-hab work and it was ok.
I swopped bench for dips but continued the rotation re-prehab anyway. Then yesterday i got curious about how my dip strength would translate to benching ability. 2 sets of bench later and my shoulder is again wrecked.
Its not the sub-scap this time, it feels totally different, and it doesnt hurt to stretch my rotator cuff. It feels like maybe where the pec minor inserts under the anterior delt.
MORE TIME OFF. Not expecting a diagnosis or owt, just ranting and pissed off i suppose. Anyone had a similar prob. ? Did you ever manage to get back under the bench bar sucessfully?
