Does your uni have some kind of emergency fund for seriously cash-strapped students? And if so, have you looked in to whether you'll qualify?

yeah going back to do an MSc Al, theres **** all work down here atm, but im hoping if i apply for the graduate schemes for next year and get the MSc under my belt along with a load of personal portfolio work i should be quite a good candidate.

Jonny - yeah i will be claiming for that too. its shit, throughout the undergraduate you get thrown money for everything the postgrad is 3x the price and you get no funding whatsoever.

You'll be fine - me and my now wife never lived together before buying our first house 3 and half years ago where we still live. Before we didn't have any bills to pay and had all our food covered etc as we lived between my parents house and her mums house only making minimal contributions.

It is a bit of an adjustment with all the stuff you have to pay out but you just cope as you get used to living to your means - best thing to do is set up direct debits to cover all your main bills at begining of month or when any cash hits the account like wages so they are covered. Make sure you get cheapest suppliers for stuff check out this site really useful and will save you money on all sorts of things -

and my final tip is plan your meals in advance for the week before doing your food shop (to be honest my wife does this she is much more organised than me) and means you don't end up buying loads of crap and wasting money.

Hope this helps and good luck mate!!
