View Full Version : Buggrit! Millenium Hand and Shrimp. Tonked a Tinker, I told 'em a.k.a. Grip stuff.
Anybody know where I can get:
1) A 6lb sledge hammer.
2) 4mm, 5mm, 6mm hot-rolled steel rods.
These things don't appear to be especially easy to find in London. 7lb and 8lb hammers are ten-a-penny, as are 6mm rods, but I can't find 'owt else.
Where did y'all get your grip kit from?
1. 4mm is too easy even for a 2y/o girl.
2. 6mm is pushing it unless you want to start bending with 9" rod.
3. All are avalible from B+Q.
IMO, get 5mm and use that until you can bend a 5mm x 5-6" rod. Then go for 6mm. W/u using loads of light, easy bends, or your in for some sore wrists an elbows the day after.
Pleased to see you taking an interest mate, but why the sudden interest?
Also, get a leather shammy.
And quit that Godforsaken cockny bull crap.

The 4mm is for Pinky. The 6mm is for something to work up to. I'm intending to start with the 5mm.

Squatting is going slowly and benching/deadlifting were never really of much interest, so I'm looking for other cool strength stuff to do to keep myself ticking over. Also, Pinky's lifting has been on the backburner (haha.) as well, so she's looking for something that will help her scare the men at her work while she's rehabbing.

You're not from 'round here, are you?
In order to prevent the rest of the UK economy from imploding, new Government legislation forbids shops, stores and outlets in the Greater London area from selling anything anyone would want to buy. True story.
The B&Qs in my area sell exactly none of the required items. Any other ideas?
Also...
1) What exactly is the name of these rod-thingies? Some of the places I asked had apparently never heard of 'hot-rolled steel rods'.
2) Are they supposed to be smooth or 'spiralled' (so you could fit a nut on them) or doesn't it matter.
3) What do you use to cut these things? Bolt-cutters seem to be in short supply in my area. Probably a good thing.

Yeah they are call hot rolled steel and every b&q sells em, they are smooth and in the same section as the threaded rod you refer to, For bolt croppers get some 18" ones from ebay about 10£ delivered, it is also called steel rod if that helps, just buy a bag of 6" nails and hurt yourself trying lol!

Apparently not, or not in Peckham at least - 6mm hot-rolled iron was the closest I got. Will have a look in Greenwich.
What are you boys bending these days?

Threaded.
:)
Its doesn't really matter if its iron or stell, threaded or smooth, shiny or dull. Just make sure its hard to bend.
I am a strange stage, soemtimes I can bend a 6" nail like its a joke, others I can't even budge it. I can give a 5" nail a nasty kink, but no more.
