Static holds.

2" deadlift essentially. Just below lockout and with supramaximal DL weight. After a couple o' months you'll be able to hang on to some sicko weight. A guy called Steve Gardener who posts on many forums and I beleive is a memeber here has a partial deadlift of 1000lbs+. He is ranked in the top 20 grips in the world mind you.

As a better example, I pull in the region of 200kg (440lbs) from the floor but can hold onto just under 270kg (600lbs) for about 5-10 seconds.

I found farmers walks really helped my grip also, I used to run around the gym 50kg in each hand

so is that a fat bar then (im guessing a fat bar's diameter is 2"???). Cos my gym dont have one of them! When would you recommend doing the grip stuff Rob, on "assistance work" day ?
thanks

Think Rob means the distance the bar moves i.e set the rack pins about 2" below lock out, deadlift it out to lock out position and hold it.
Thats how i'm reading it anyway

NJ is right on. Use thick bar stuff on another day... or do it after your Static Holds.
