I am being roped in to and intergym Powerlifting style comp

And we are told this (Schwartz) formula will be used - (Presumably to make smaller weaker guys feel better about themselves :018: ....just my little joke- no need for anyone to take offence ! )

I have found a few tables on the net and have knocked up little calculator on excel and found it to be not as bad as I thought - I originally thought I, (at 22 and a half stome) would have to lift 300k to beat a 14 stone guy lifting an empty bar - but it seems its not quite as bad as I thought

The Team we are facing are VERY seasoned Powerlifters - Including a supposed current world record holder (squat I am told ) quite why we are agreeing to this competition with them I don't know !

Anyway
I have found three sources of this formula and they are all different !
Does anyone have a copy of this formula that they KNOW is correct?
and also - Do you know who it is designed to favour ? (heavy/light guys) ?

IIRC the Schwartz formula is similar to the Wilk's formula in it's intentions - The idea being as a formula to compare lifters in different weight categories. As such, it wasn't intended to be biased either way as that would undermine the whole point of the formula.

It might be fractionally biased one way or the other, but not by enough to make a significant difference.

...and no, I don't know what the formula is.

Well the Powerlifters that are organising the comp are telling us that the formula will favour us ! we are all a lot heavier than their team - I think their team will average about 14 -15 stone .... hmmmm

We all keep having to remind each other we are only doing this for "a bit of fun " lol

Really I don't think it makes that much difference - The people the formula favours most are the better lifters.

IIRC no matter what your bodyweight, the higher your numbers the more its in your favour, so really, it should be in favour of the fatties.
