Got an e-mail through from London Kettlebells about this. Sounds fun - might have a bash at the snatch comp. The British Kettlebell Lifting Federation, in conjunction with Powerseekers and Optimal life fitness, are organising a kettlebell meet/competition scheduled for Saturday the 16th May, in London.

The competition will feature three events. The traditional events of Snatch and Jerk as well as a new event of clean squat and press, will be contested over 10 minutes.

You can enter any of the three contests. Awards for each contest will be presented as well as a traditional overall winner for those competing in both snatch and jerk events.

The objective with these competitions/meets (this is the first in a series), is to give people the opportunity to take part in a competition, in order to meet other KB enthusiasts and to increase knowledge and abilities.

Don't worry if you are not getting international level results in your sets, simply turn up on the day and give it a go.
By participation in these meets your personal standard will improve and the national standard of kettlebell lifting will improve.

Entry is straightforward, just drop us an email with name, address, weight category and which event/s you would like to compete in.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Warm regards

Is it a most snatches in 10 minutes sort of deal? Are there standard weights?

Most snatches in 10mins with a 24kg kettlebell. Can only change hands once, can't put it down and can only rest in the lockout position. Also most clean and jerks with 2x24s in 10mins. Weight categories for each events - I'm firmly in the heaviest category...

Done it with a 16 before - biggest problem was blindness from sweat dripping in my eyes!

65 reps of 32kg KB in each hand on the clean and jerk in 10mins would put you as a "Master of Sport" (so very decent).

Dammit this makes me wish I still had my kettlebells - I used to train with this former Marine Commando nutcase and 10 minutes of KB snatches was par for the course.

Only ever done that with 16s though.
