My shite fitness hit me this week when I had to run into work when i was a bit late and was breathing really heavily after running from bottom end of Leeds city centre to work which was a lot harder than it should have been.

Anyway I decided that I am going to do something about it and get into the routine of running to the local park on a morning before work by getting up 30 mins earlier at 6am slamming some clothes on no matter how tired/crap i feel and push myself to do it. As recently have struggled to get myself out of bed and generally feeling sluggish on a morning which isn't normal for me so thinking some early morning exercise will help and I do feel quite motivated to actually do it too starting from tomorrow morning.

Also reckon it will help me tone up and lose some fat

I plan to jog to park and jog around perimeter of it which would be just over 1 mile.

I then plan to use one of the football pitches there and do a football suicide HIIT session by doing following

Jog to 6 yard box sprint back
Jog to penalty sport sprint back
Jog to 18 yard box sprint back
Jog to halfway line sprint back
Jog to other side 18 yard box sprint back
Jog to other side penalty spot sprint back
Jog to other side 6 yard box sprint back
Then jog full pitch and sprint back

I reckon that will pretty much do me lol and should see my fitness and stamina increase if I do maintain this. Also hoping it should take no more than 20-30 min

Will doing this all on a empty stomach. What do you reckon is this feasible to do it every weekday before work? Will this help me wake up a bit as never really done training immediately one waking.

Also do you think I should do longest sprints first or do short ones first as indicated

looks like you want to do too much too soon IMO

alternate jogging and the HIIT and start off doing it say 3 days a week and build it up

otherwise after 3-4 days you will be ****ed

Good luck with this I tried morning running but I am simply not a morning person when it's a trade off between getting out of bed 1/2 hour earlier over lying in bed with my hands on the Wifes Tits the jugs always win.

FRED;

You might be right, what i might do is do it a couple of days on the trot and see how i feel. Might just jog to the park and do the HIIT stuff then

BENGDOGG;

I hear you but once i wake up and am up and about generally feel ok. Christ i'd love to stay in bed with the wife every morning but gotta pay those bills lol

You may be able to do 30 mins of steady state cardio everyday, but the sprints will quickly take their toll. Invest in a heart rate monitor, keep your steady state work under 65% of your max HR and when doing HIIT get it over 85%.

Well will not do any cardio on the weekend, going to get a HR monitor for my birthday which is next month. What do you reckon doing the HIIT stuff on 2 or 3 of the weekdays and a steady jog on other weekday mornings?

^^Sounds sensible. Do the steady state some days, others walk to the park and do the HIIT. If I could do it I'd love to do morning cardio, when I've managed to drag my arse out of bed it seems to out me in a better mood for the whole day.
