Do anyone train as a strongman/powerlifter still do alot of cardio during the weel. The reason i ask, recently found myself out of breath doing simple tasks like walking up stairs... worrying stuff :018:
I don't know what your working day is like, but i love lunch time walks. 45-50 minutes in the fresh air, a brisk pace and my ipod. I feel much much better for it.

Aerobic training is perfectly fine to do between strength sessions, in fact it should increase results. Recommended IMO.

kye does alot of cardio and conditioning work between sessions rich, check out his journal.
hi richie, I love doing cardio in the week and feel healthier and a lot more athletic for it. Typically I do 2 short burts sessions and one lot of 30mins cross trainer. Have been doing this in september as I felt horribly unfit after cullys but now my fitness and strength are both going well. Kettle bell swings i have found to be really good aswell as sprints, sled drags and flips with a light tyre

i think im going to opt for the tyre option......:048:
I add sled drags & bits to my actual sessions so i`m
not eating into my recovery time.

Have a look at Crossfit (http://www.crossfit.com) Richie, some of their stuff IS actually applicable to Strongman contrary to what the coronaries in waiting on here will tell ya, especially the metabolic conditioning workouts which are basically cardio with weights.

Take a dip in the local swimming baths Rich, everytime I do (which isn't enough) I find I ache more than any comp / workout.

I used to be a fitness coach for Exeter University and LTA Juniors... I will freely admit to there being big gaps in my knowledge when it comes to strength training but I know a great deal about conditioning.
I will try to knock something up about metabolic pairings, complexes, circuits and GPP - the kind of stuff that we, as strength trainers, should be concentrating on - if I can find time today.
Though seeing as I started typing this when I first got in the office maybe I won't have time.
