Ok, pc question here....

I've just bought a 512mb usb pocket drive which states to be 'hot plug and play'. Obviously its safe to plug it into the pc when the pc is on and it acts just a harddrive.

Can i just pull it out when finished or do i have to righ click the little icon near the clock and select 'safely remove hardware'

is there a difference to 'hot plug and play' and 'hot swappable'

You can insert and remove it when you fancy. I wouldn't bother with the safely remove icon on the task bar.

Just make sure your not reading or writing from/to it when you remove it to make sure you don't currupt your data.
