View Full Version : The rehab goes on................
Okay, this is for my own personal reference and I doubt it will make a very good read.My knee injury is getting better, as is my shoulder but I have a suspected impingement which knocks swimming on the head. However my lower back is shot to pieces again, which I have confirmed by going to the chiropractor yesterday and being told my spine is all over the place! He then went on to click and crack me back into place:041:
I am off to the gym in a minuteto do some light cycling, maybe some inclined walking, some light stretching and a little bit of Pilates work to help build up some core stability, but not a lot to start with because I've not long been clicked back into place!
I am far from finished...I'll be back:cool:

slow and steady wins the race
thanks lads!Okay, today I did about 20 minutes of the very light cycling, then 20 minutes on the treadmill with some incline walking on level 7 going at about 5 miles an hour
Finished off with some stretching and a quick Pilates session to get myself back into it... I'll start listing exactly what I do when I start getting into it properly
Cool. My calves get huuuuuuuuge when I do incline walking/running. You should do more of that and less cycling asnd gte massive calves! :045:
Hey mate, good to hear youre comming along.
You've got patella tracking dysfunction yeah? I've got the same deal there, albeit not as bad as you. Mine was caused by flat feet, was yours the same?
Frustrating aint it. Dont worry, you'll be back up to full speed in no time. Persistance pays. :023:
Hey mate, good to hear youre comming along.
You've got patella tracking dysfunction yeah? Thank you mate, it actually turned out that I have something called Osgood Schlatter's disease, which is from my understanding and abnormal formation of bone at the top of the shin where the patella tendon runs over it, which causes inflammation. Basically there is nothing that can be done and is very common amongst growing, active people

I had my feet scanned by a specialist (running) shoe shop and it shows that my feet have perfectly fine arches... this is all like an episode of neighbours!
Frustrating aint it. Dont worry, you'll be back up to full speed in no time. Persistance pays. :023: Believe me mate,I know all about frustration after spending most of last yearand a part of this year with a back injury, got back into training and then picked up a knee and shoulder injury! :013:
Last night I did some Pilates and stretching, and my lower back has been aching ever since being realigned A couple of days ago!
My friend at school had that, he had to stop football and stuff, he did evetually grow out it though.
Osgood Shlatters eh? Believe it or not Ive got that on my other knee! LOL
Dont think its a bad again, but I have got a very large bump there because it developed into an avulsion fracture. Shame there isnt much to correct it, only alleviate the pain as far as Im aware.
The best advice I can give is not to favour it. Id favour that knee doing everyday tasks, kneeling, bending everything. This led me to develop weaknesses in my hip etc. which was later fixed by physio but still had me off from training for even longer.
Good luck with it mate.
Shoulder has been hurting very badly over the last couple of days:022:
anyway yesterday I did a bit of incline walking and threw in a bit of rowing afterwards, but my lower back was tight as a nun's muff!
Finished off with some stretching and Pilates

knighty, what was the nature of your shoulder injury if you don't mind my asking?
I upset it whilst doing a TGU, but then whilst getting my bike out of the shed one-day I felt something pop. From that day on, about six months ago give or take, I've had extreme weakness and tightening of the shoulder as a result of this, and it is now impinged and an absolute mystery to me
I had forgotten to update in the last few days
Monday I did some incline walking, a bit of cycling, some Pilates and stretching
I've also decided to get a cortisone injection done which should help the bursitis
How did the injection feel? Have you noticed any positive effects yet?
I am having the jab on Tuesday and I won't feel any positive effects for over a week apparently
Yesterday I had my cortisone injection and it doesn't hurt as much as I thought it would! I haven't moved the shoulder very much but I would like to see what happens in the next week or so
I've been doing a lot of cardiovascular stuff(about an hour every other day) and lots of stretching... I can nearly do the front splits!:035:
Yeah buddy! Throw some of that flexibility my way?

Poor Knighty. Hang in there, you will get to the top of your personal mountain eventually.
I haven't updated lately because there hasn't been much to update apart from CV... until the day before yesterday when I did a couple of sets of hyperextensions, oblique extensions (feet hooked underneath Smith bar) and situps... did not count reps but I will today when I do some more
I've been very concerned about my posture lately and will be doing all I can for now to help correct this until I can start training again and doing some proper corrective stuff
Visited the doctors because my medication is giving me funny turns and had some blood taken to be screened for red blood cell count, blood glucose levels, and thyroid levels. My blood pressure was taken and was 104/63, and resting heart rate is 53 beats per minute.
The doctor is tapering my medication down and I'm starting to feel the effects within myself already of the lower dosage... I'm starting to feel negative, irritable and all signs of depression that the medication was covering are coming back... I hope she finds a better alternative for me soon because I don't want to go back the way I was
Pelvis popped out of alignment again...Getting cracked back together today
I need to include more core stability work that doesn't aggravate my shoulder. Thinking of adding some isometric back extensions, and bridges with a Swiss ball
Forgive my ignorance, Knighty, but how does youor pelvis just 'pop-out'?
I mean what actually happens? It sounds horrificly painful and scary.
I think where my pelvis spent about eight months being misaligned it keeps sliding back to how it was occasionally
Also due crap core stability because I can't do a lot at the moment with my shoulder not permitting me to do any rotational, any thing that need support from my arm, any thing that involves the upper back, etc

You have a low resting heart rate, which is a good sign.
Hope you get the medication sorted out and you are feeling better.

Knighty, when you say funny turns what do you mean by that? Light headed, feeling of faintness etc or something else?
