Icepick - admittedly the last ones unfortunately never quite came off. But we have managed to organise and show up for three previously, four if you count the Cully novice sttrongman comp which half of IC were in too. All of which were well attended and a good crack! With Hi-rep cancelled I am very up for a wee IC bash personally. London makes sense, Alex or Manatee could ask Bulldog if we can do it there. Last time we were talking about doing:

Dead
Overhead, any kind
Bodyweight squat for max reps

Right i am on holiday (bring on the Sunshine) from 10th to 17th so those two are out also can't make 31st as will be in Birmingham watching the mighty Leeds against Walsall unless the meet was there?
Also Leeds are at home to Peterborough on the 24th so that is out too! In any case London would cost me £100 plus to travel too plus hotel etc I'd love to come to one of these meets but your all to far Saaaarf for me lol

to be honest you're probably better off getting a hotel. late night transport is shite in London. The easy hotel in Paddington is £25 a night although you just get a bed in a box room and have to pay extra for a telly

How do you want me to give you the money? Can paypal if you want. Is it the same price whether we're lifting or not? I'll be a couple of weeks away from the Europeans and probably starting tapering down my training so don't fancy hitting maxes or getting injured before my comp. Is this still the plan then? I'm up for squat/dead and overhead, mostly so i can have my form shot to shreads. I think a 100kg OH PB might be my main goal.
I reckon so yeah. People can do everything, or pick which lifts they want to do. Squat can be back, front, raw, equipped, whatever you like. And we'll just go through the lot in one group on a rising bar, 3 lifts, 4 if you reckon you have a few more kg in you still.
LOLLLZZZ at me benching. If i pause it i doubt I'll get 80. BW squats will be brutal.
Are there bumpers? Cos I'll have to ditch a max jerk, no way I'll be strong enough to control it down.
IIRC from the last time I was there, there are bumpers and an area around the monolift where you can O-lift.

As said before I'm only deadlifting so I can go for this 300 without squatting and benching before hand. I might have a pop at the OH thing if I can use the thick bar. We'll have to clean this from the floor right?

Can a londoner give me a roughidea how long the tube will take from Woodfood green (i park at my mates) to Hanger Lane (nearest Travellodge). Its basically its as far as i could possible go from one of the most easterly stations to north west london isn't it.
From my breif london travelling exeprience I'd give yourself and hour....

Can a londoner give me a roughidea how long the tube will take from Woodfood green (i park at my mates) to Hanger Lane (nearest Travellodge). Its basically its as far as i could possible go from one of the most easterly stations to north west london isn't it.

How long it going to take, what are you planning to do between meet and night out? You can always freshen up in our hotel room, i'll even try to hold Timmy back from jumping in the shower with you.
Just found out that both my trainline AND my nearest tubeline are being taken down for engineering works that day. I'll need to get a lift partway into town from the missus then take an odd route around town - probably around 2.5-3 hours in total. Don't mind that getting there, just wondering about get home later on as I'd need a lift again to get home - unless I didn't drink and drove myself :019:
I was assuming I'd just change in the gym changing rooms after the lifting; wasn't planning on getting too tarted up or nowt. If people are going back to the hotel though I'll tagalong. Might not be in the mood for man-love so make sure your grip's good - though I'll probably be using soap so that should be enough to put him off.

So what's the plan for the night out? Head in to Covent Garden or something? More in town than out in Alperton!

Well if we go out in town that seems fair since these boys will all have to hop on tubes/trains back to wembley/hanger lane to crash before midnight (well worth checking this). Just don't do what i've done and fall asleep on the last train and wake up in Aylesbury!

As for time I'd suggest starting sooner rather than later since the gym is pretty empty on saturdays during the day. 2 start would be ideal. How long do you think we'll need? Bearing in mind we're never short on DL space it's only really the bench we need to book-up because the clowns use it. If we could be done by 6-7 we could grab food at Nandos in Ealing and be in town for 8-9?

For those of you too tight to pay the extra couple of quid for early check in maybe.
Meet at the Travel Lodge and jump in my car and go from there if you like. Got a tomtom so getting there shouldn't be a problem.
im not going to draw a map, but surely a walk to the gym would be best, its pretty easy to get to from where you are staying mate.
chi from the tubestation to the travellodge (on right in pic below) takes 15 mins. so on from there id guess another 15 mins. when i stayed in wembley there were no cabbies, oyu need to order one so either do that or get your walk on.

If anyone wants to come up with me you can meet me, Madcap and JB at Victoria station at 12:30 (I hope that's ok guys). Drop me a PM if you want to do this and I'll give you my mobile number.
For those of you who have not been to Genesis before, they have started charging for water so make sure you bring lots unless you want to pay for it. There is a big Sainsbury's near by (7 min walk) for supplies but not much else.
It has been proposed that we should go to Nandos afterwards (probably in Ealing) so if nobody objects to that then we'll call that a plan. After that I suggest going to the Ridgeback in Acton which is open VERY late, although we could head into town if anyone fancies it.
Oh and don't forget to bring £5 for entry (apart from Chris, who's paid me).

My flatmates (the two girls) are going out with some friends around Shoreditch on Sat night so we COULD join them. It's possible they'll have several other lady friends there but it's also possible they may not! Shoreditch is, however very very snooty (so I've heard) so a bunch of fat, ugly, red-faced strength altheletes may wish to avoid it.
