View Full Version : Ankle Prehab?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone knows of what sort of exercises or a routine that would help with ankle prehab and general strength/stability??

Around 2 years ago I hyperextended my right ankle damaging the joint capsule and a few ligaments, It was nursed back to health and has been trouble free until the last 6 weeks or so when its started to give me some grief again - nothing serious just aches and the odd click here and there, have still been playing on it.

standing on an airex pad between sets, barefoot if poss

training barefoot

calf and tibialis anterior strengthening

Tibialis anterior being the muscle on the front of the shin? Edit - just googled it. What would you recommend for this Andy?

I really want a pair of these (http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/products/products_sprint.cfm) to train in but can't justify the cost!

I read good article on T-Nation about ankles mate can't find it again though. One of main suggestions to strengthen ankle was walking lunges on tip toes!

I've done weighted dorsiflexions for tib ant.

What size are you? I think Ian has a never worn before pair he's trying to sell, might be worth dropping him a PM.
