i get a sensation (for want of a better word) running down the outside of my calves facing away from my body. when i get up off the floor or getting up out of a squat i can feel 'something'. its not pain but it is annoying.
anybody else? anyone know what it is?

anybody?
I used to get what i guess felt like nasty shin splints from heavy squatting and DLs but that was the inside of my shins rather than calves. Shame PK and HST are away.

is it kind of a burning senstation. not the normal burn u get from lifting though and u also get it when I run. If so then I guess I get it aswell.

Foam rolling and stretching?

^^^
ok I use to get this before, rolling and deep massage did the trick for me, but calve stretching made it more painful.

can be really painful, but if its painful you know you need to roll

cool thanks, now to get a roller/tennis ball/golf ball...
Been having a lot of pain in my shins/calves latley after squatting and what's being described here in this thread is exactly what's happening to me.
So all I need to do is foam roll the area and the pain will go away?
What about flat feet? I have flat feet and was wondering would that cause this sort of problem? If so, should I get some orthotics?
i used to get a pain in my shins before i started doing ankle warmups. chi had a great short article with 5 basic moves to sort it, warup takes about 2 mins.
walk 30 ft on toes going backward
30 ft on heels forward
30 ft on inner side of feet
30 ft on outer side
30 ft pointed in
30 ft pointed out
you may feel lke a mong doing it but it worked for me and imo is one of the main reasons my ankle ****ed up, (stopped doing it for a few weeks)
Interesting. Do I do it bare foot or with footwear?

i ended up going to a physio - i had a few other things i wanted sorted. he did lots of massage on my calves and lots of stretching. since then i just make sure i stretch regular and havent had a problem since
funnily enough i also have flat feet :) but they seem to add to my chronic ankle spraining rather than anything else
