After mentioning this method in Roberts journal, rather than taking it off topic I thought I'd start a new thread.

1-6 method is a form of wave loading.

Its very straight forward and I've found it really effective in my own training. You also get the benefits of heavy singles combined with some heavy repping.

Heres an excert from an old workout where I was using 1-6 on the bench press.

120kg x 1
100kg x 6
122.5kg x 1
102.5kg x 6
125kg x 1
105kg x 6

ok so there ya go. That heavy single stimulates your nervous system which then allows you to rep with a heavier weight than you normally would be able to. Thats pretty much the jist of it.

Are those numbers from the same or different workouts?

definately worth a try mate, you get to lift heavy and rep, interesting to see what you would do with the singles.

works best with the big 3 exercises, I've also used it with pullups and dips

Thanks Pike. Thats definitely something to bear in mind. Though I may use 1-5-1-5 myself.

Rock, keep a journal. I'll watch it and if it looks like your doing well on it, I might give it a go in the new year.
