View Full Version : Life after Arthroscopy

Hi all. My first post on here (seems as the AS forum has died a death).
After a bit of advice or hearing others experience. I had a tear in the meniscus of my right knee and had an arthroscopy about 3 weeks ago. Its been a problem for a couple of years and its probably been the best part of a year since I was last able to squat.
Just wondering if anyone on here has had the procedure and how long it took to get back to serious squatting again.
Cheers, Pete.
I had this op quite a few years back when I was at school. I didn't weight train at the time, but I got back to rugby within a month or so iirc. It's minimally invasive as surgeries go.
Welcome on board pete, one of my training partners tore his meniscus back in march at a pl competition, took about 3 months out doing rehab stuff, he's back squatting/deadlifting relativily heavy again.

Quality! Was hoping it wouldnt take to long. I was just worried about rushing back into it too soon and doing more damage than good.
Suppose it would be an idea to start off with leg extensions/pulls.
Cheers lads
IIRC, my physio at the time recommended light leg press over extensions; less sheer force on the joint rings a bell as a reason...? Have you not been given a physio appointment as a follow-up?

Yep, leg extensions are one of the worst things anybody can do, but especially people with dodgy knees.

Leg press it is then.
They've given me a 6 week follow up appointment, so thats 2 weeks off yet.

Well come.
Sorry to hear about your injury, but judging by a friends great progress after the same op, I'd imagine you should be 100% recovered within 3 months. Best of luck.

Thanks for the welcome. Well looking forward to getting back to 100%! :038:
