Well, it had it's ups and it's downs, I came away at first somewhat disappointed with how it went, but analyzing things on the drive home decided I basically achieved everything I could have hoped to really.
Got there far too early so went and sat in a pub car park and attempted to stuff my face, mentally not feeling too nervous but the old tell tale need to piss every five minutes and inablity to stomach food told another story...
Weighed in at 94.85kg IIRC fully clothed.
120kg (plate weight) Viking press - 2 reps, though I ****ed my first attempt and missed it cos I didn't get my head through quick enough, 8th out of 10, two behind me didn't get any reps, winner got 14 I think.
230kg Deadlift - 0 reps. Well, first it was going to be 200kg thickbar, then car DL, ended up being 230 on a oly bar, which was just never going to happen for me, didn't even get close, 10th, every other **** pulled it, winner got 12 I think.
Medley, 195kg duckwalk 10m ish then 120kg gas cylinder farmers 10m ish - This was also changed at the last minute from wheelbarrow to farmers, which had me walking around in a huff tbh as I figured I had no chance in getting the ****ing faremers up. As it happened I was almost right, but not quite, just about dragged the bastards up and completed the whole thing in 38.something seconds with no drops, thank **** cos I wouldn;t have gotten 'em up again. 9th out of 10, chap behind me had a couple drops and didn't quite make the distance, winner did it in 16.something, ****ing fast.
400kg Tyre - Well this is where I ****ed up, was wearing shitty brand new seven quid trainers, and every time I got the ****ing tyre up to my knee and put enough drive into it to turn it over my feet slipped on the dusty floor, gay gay gay. It was also a very hard tyre I must admit, bastard to grip, but were it not for the shoes I would have three or four flips instead of the one I got. Only other guy in trainers had the same problem, ended up joint last with him, though I guess I would actually have gotten 9th cos he was heavier.
Stones, 110 to ridiculous, 120 and 130 to 54", 140 and 160 to 48" - Wasn't to be, platform was absurdly high, well over five foot, stone felt like a pebble coming off the floor, made three attempts but there was no chance tbh, pissed me off because I know I could have done the second and third stones at least, but there we are. Joint last with two others who didn't get the first, can't remember of it was one or two people that got them all.
Overall I think I was 9th out of 10, possibly 8th but I'm fairly sure 9th.
Can't really be pissed off with the DL or stones as to put it bluntly, I can't do either, so I'll just be pissed off at Col instead for changing half the events to shit I suck at, lol. And can't complain about being beaten by everyone, as they were all better than me. Infact there were some very impressive athletes there. Tyre was stupid though, I had climbing shoes in the boot of my car, oh well you live and learn.
Met some great people, got a big PR in the farmers even if it did immedieately feel like I'd torn both traps clean off the bone. Basically had good fun, already looking forward to my next comp, which thankfully should be a ****ing site easier than this was, lol.
There was also some chick there in the Women's comp, ex oly champion, 170kg c+j!!!!!
Big thanks to Alex for coming and supporting me on the day, and filming everything, vid to follow at some point...
