what would be reasonable strength gains in 6 months for:

squat -
deadlift -
bench -
OHP -

am just looking for some parameters within which to set my goals.

i know how long a piece of string is.

cheers

Mor elikeley to be a percentage really

But for 6 months i would hope for me to gain
Squat + 15kg
dead +20-30kg (abit ambitios maybe?)
bench + 10kg (for me)
ohp +15kg a weak are that is coming on nicley

Some of these are easily acievable for me others like squat i always get knee problems that set me back

It also sort of depends on how long one's been training and what kind of routine they're doing. For example, eginners tend to make good strength gains in the first six months, but then they level off, etc. I know you're not just starting out, but it's something to think about.

I differ from Beng a little bit, but my personal expectations are currently:

squat - who knows (knee problem at the moment - can't go too hard)
deadlift - looking for about 65lbs over the next three months
bench - about 45 lbs.
OHP - about 40 lbs. (this is probably a little over-ambitious)

Basically, it pretty impossible to say.

i was meaning like if i said i've put on 150kg on my 100kg squat in 1 year i presume that would be staggering. same for deadlift.

i know its all relative but was looking for a ballpark figure. i'll just concentrate on training harder <buff>

Ok, well more than anything, it depends where you are at.

Someone who squats 100kg should be able to double that in 2 years, someone who squats 200kg would have a hard time getting another 50kg on that in 2 years.

Me? I am looking for asmuch hypertrophy as possible ATM, so strength gains are not really an issue (thats not to say I am not interested in getting stronger). I hope to squat 180kg before summer.

To answer this question we would have to know a lot more about you.
Height?
Weight?
BF%?
Age?
How long have you been lifting?
What are your current best attempts in each of these lifts?

With these, I can give you an estimate on what I would tell a client.

I dont care how much info you have on someone, you can't do anything more than guess.

he did say 'estimate'. ;)

i wouldnt see a guess/estimate being much different from the advice given in journals regarding short term targets e.g. x kilos on your deadlift in10 weeks etc... anyway...

my numbers are:

bench - previous best 120kg. current probably about 105-110kg.
squat - 155kg - parallel. current is a full squat of 130kg.
deadlift - 167.5kg (temperemental back)

bodyfat-? dont know but i have a 35 inch waist. the rest of me is slim :036:

height - 5 feet 11 inches

weight - 13 stones (about 3/4 months ago was 14 & a half)

age - turned 27 in september
been training for 2 years and a few months.

i am not eating for gaining weight at the moment. i dont really have a set goal asto what sort of weights i want to be lifting and i feel that i need some.
in the long term i would like to have a 200kg + squat & deadlift and a 140kg bench.

cheers

Now remember, this is only a "guess"(just kidding).

In 10-12 weeks with the right training program you should be able to get your lifts up to at least the following #'s:

Squat:167.5kg parallel
Bench:115kg
Deadlift:172.5kg

One thing I did forget to ask you was what your training is like right now. It is still safe to say that my estimate is conservative, but if your current training program is not any good you may make much higher gains.
