I want to incorporate these into my squatting day. If adding resistance via D/B or K/B is there any advantages or disadvantages to having resistance in one hand only? I figured it might help core/stabilisation?

I suppose it would....

the disadvantage would be that the increased effort of the torso to maintain stability would necessitate the lowering of load, which means it would therefore be at the expense of the stress on the glutes/quads.

it would be a multifunctional exercise, which would be ok for your average Joe Bloggs who comes to the gym, but I wouldn't think it would be of much use to a Power Lifter.
