Are bumper plates bigger than standard?

As the question reads and if yes where can i get 2x20kg bumpers cos if they are bigger i only need 2.

no they are not

all you would need is 2x20kg bumpers

this would allow you to do up to 115kg without too many plates on the bar

ie 20,15,10 per side

Ok, silly question here.

I know bumper plates are used for oly lifting, but why are they used? Whats the difference over normal plates?

the bumper plates in our gym are bigger ever so slightly which does help a lot when loading up the bar for dead lifts...

Ok i got my plates today and they rule! They are huge though about 2" bigger in diamiter than my 20kg plates, I always though my 20kg plates were very compact and noticed a drop in my deadlift when i moved to home training. Can wait to try the bouncy beasts out!
