Got a bonus at work last month which has just been spent on some beautiful HD gaming! Got a few quid leftover so may get another game or two... Completed Oblivion on my mid-range PC but it'd look awesome in HD so might borrow it from a mate and play it with a totally different sort of character.

Anyone else got one? Any suggestions for decent games? :)

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 - The only use for gaming computers imo. If you like football you'll love it.

I bought a japanese PS3 this morning, a VGA converter and a copy of Resistance Fall of Man. It's arriving tomorrow. :045:

Total nooby nerd gayness, but when I seen the preview vids of some of the games I thought I'd give it a shot on a trial basis. I'll re-sell if it's not up to par.

PS3 apparently has a lot more potential. It is actually more powerful, but game developers have yet to master ways in taking advantage of it.

Some XBOX 360 games out perform PS3 graphics wise as the developers have a had a lot more time since the console has been out for a while.

I played Resistance demo last night. These 3rd person shooters are shit without keyboard and mouse. Shame as it's a decent game.

On another note, this guy on Ebay isn't being co-operative. I'm getting impatient.

BengDogg

if you bought the ps3 on your credit card, set your credit card company on him they will seize the money back and make him pay to return the goods, always make major purchases on a credit card ;)

It's being sorted. He's seeking compensation from Royal Mail.

I bought a 32" HDMI Logik LCD tv yesterday. The quality is outstanding. I didn't think this HD / MDMI malerkey was so good.

Yeah, what's the deal!? I didn't even realise Telewest had changed to Virgin Media.

I plugged in my digi box this morning to tune it in an I had "Virgin Media" plastered all over the screen. I thought it was some built in freeview thing and thought my digi box wasnt tuned in.

I just contacted Virgin this morning by emai lasking about HD boxes. How did you go about it? Do people need to actually install it or is it sent by post? Shame that more channels arent HD yet. I'm not even sure it's worth the change yet..?

It's Blu-Ray movies for me! My PS3 only supports NTSC though since its Japanese, so I have to buy american movies...

BengDogg
12-02-2007, 15:40
their hd box is called the v drive it was the telewest pvr, its a triple tuner that can record 2 channels at once and stores 80 hours of stuff on 160gb things, all channels, movies sport, 10mb broad band and a unlimited phone package £85 a month. they dont charge extra for their hd but there is practicly no content atm so i dont see they could.i may well go for blu ray i think i will just watch the space for a while, i will probably get a ps3 as i have plenty of ps2 and 1 stuff i still enjoy when time permits

webcore
12-02-2007, 16:13
Maybe it's worth getting to get a few channels in HD if it's free.

Do they send you the box?

I haven't actually tested blu-ray yet. I think I might buy a blu-ray movie off Ebay to try it out, but from what I've seen on there there doesnt appear to be much out at the moment. I dont expect ebay is the best place to but them from anyways.

I told that seller on Ebay to put in a £100 compensation claim to Royal Mail, as its possible he could totally bullshit saying its completely smashed claiming hundreds for himself. Fingers crossed I'll get it. It's only a small crack. I'm bitching over nothing really but it doesnt take away from the resale value of ever I was to sell.

BengDogg
12-02-2007, 17:28
no they come out and fit it and then move your other box to another room, go to virgin media site and have a nose,

sell me your ps3 for £100 ;) just cancelled my tv and re ordered it elsewhere which has saved me £160 odd so now i get it sunday or monday from dixons, the saving was on the stand which was £299 on the other site and £89 on offer at dixons with the tv, there was also a voucher code for more money off but i htink it was duff as i couldnt get it working and dixons knew nothing of it,. i was tempted to go for a 50" screen but i think my room cant fit it in.

webcore

What did you get? Xbox 360?

If you are connecting to an HD tv, you should of got an HD cable or better still: HDMI.

I'm running my PS3 through HDMI. It beats even beats my TFT monitor in terms of image quality. It's the dog bollocks.

I've been playing Resistance Fall of Man for about 8 hours today. :038:

Jap and US PS3's are fixed to Region 1 NTSC, so you can't watch UK (region 2) DVD's or Blu-Rays.

Mine's Jap. I'm not too bothered about UK region movies. I can easily burn material on my PC to DVD-R and it works perfect on the PS3. I'm hooking my comp up to my TV soon too so I can play downloaded stuff.

I totally forgot about about the need for a decent GFX card to output to larger screens from PC.

I've got a Geforce 6600GT (mid range). I reckon it's up to the job..

Ah right. I bought a Logic 3 VGA box of ebay to allow me to connect my PS3 up to my 19" TFT, as the monitor has no DVI socket.

The quality of the box is meant to be piss poor. Luckliy I got my HD TV and sold the VGA box on Ebay yesterday.

Damn, I want a projector. :045:

Finally got everything sorted last night, hence my zombie-like state at work today... Playing Ghost Recon in 1280x1024 and it is stunning! Take a while for me to get used to the squad commands and such but it's cool so far. Only problem is it keeps displaying the in-game bits in widescreen and I've got a standard monitor. The menus and everything are in standard configuration but it does mean I'm losing out on quite a lot of screen. Still, sure I can have a fiddle and work something out - or blow next month's paypacket on a widescreen...

That looks pretty good, it's been ages since i've payed on a platformer, prefering FPS on the pc.

I wouldn't mind a console to plug into the TV and sit down onthe sofa to chill out playing.

Can you get manic miner or jet set willy onthe Wii?

Yeah.

I don't regret buying the PS3 in the slightest. I setup a UK and Japanese account last night and downloaded some demo and full games, including Tekken and Flow.

Flow is trippy as hell. Totally hypnotic.

Resistance online still rules too.

I'm worried I'm turning into quite the geek. :024:

I've no clue of wii games, other than wii sports. :)

It'll be a playstation 2 for poor me tho. I quite enjoy playing on the DS lite but the graphics are a bit small and basic most games.

Playstation 3, rich twat lol
