View Full Version : cutting is for fags
I'm getting bored of cutting, its pissing me off. Even more so when my knobhead (soon to be ex)friend keeps going on about dropping his bodyfat and getting toned up for the beach.
I'm concerned with packing on some beastly muscle now. I just don't want to pile on the fat lb's in the process.
Basically, I want to know how to work out my maintenance calories as a starting point.
I'm (conservatively) 190lbs, 14% bodyfat, 6ft tall.
Cheers.

While I'm no diet guru, since I started following the advice offered in my posting below yours it's been fantastic for fat loss. No loss in calories, energy, or protein intake - just fat and cholesterol. My personal favorite is Robert's "secret weapon". I tried it once and am a convert.

How many cals are you consuming (roughly)?

You know, that's an excellent question. I really have no idea. A rough sketch of my day looks like this:
30g Whey and 1/2 cup chopped oatmeal in a pint of skim milk (3x daily)
(sort of what Robert outlined)
egg white omelette with turkey and tomato
some type of chicken or fish with rice
apple or fruit
protein bar
tuna or chicken with beans
Tons of water, one or two coffees (no sugar or milk anymore), maybe a can of soda - no more beer and no more than one soda per day.
I think the shakes save me from getting too tired honestly. That's about a cup and half of oatmeal throughout the day and so far it works perfectly.

Just been and bought a shitload more food consisting of granary bread, yoghurt, oat cakes, oats, peanut butter!
Today has been the best day ever for me diet wise.
11th November
1: 2x toast, 2 scoops whey + half pint milk
2: 2 chicken breast + orange
3: 2 weetabix, milk, honey + half chicken breast
4: preworkout 1 scoop whey
TRAINING
5: can of coke, 1 scoop whey
6: chicken + tomato + mayo sandwich
7: half chicken breast + half pint of milk
8: chicken, potatoe & vegetable soup, 3 slices of bread - made it myself!
9: half chicken breast + orange
10: 500g low fat natural yoghurt with honey
11: oat cakes + peanut butter
12: pint of milk
yum yum!!!
---------------------------------
Hows that for a days eating? Anything that is glaringly obvious and needs work?
You don't need the honey or the coke in there. Use Alpen on your yogurt to carb things up a bit. Carbonated drinks, beer aside, are for whimps.
I need something on things like weetabix! It's either sugar or honey im afraid. It's not a huge deal tho is it? If it is i'll try harder, its just easier for me to stick to if I have honey.
Coke - i heard some simple carbs were good post workout to replenish muscle glycogen or some shiznitz... did i hear wrong?

I'd say that diet was more than clean enough for what you're trying to do at the moment.

Nope thats right - but glucose/dextrose powder would be better than can of coke

Useless fact #45782772
In India, Weetbix have been rename Brettbix after the Australian fast bowler, Brett Lee.
Scary, but true.

Actually, just found it for about $5 a box this evening in my local grocery. Didn't buy it though. Picked up some generic oatmeal for $1.50 a ton.
