This might interest some people on here if you are looking for kettlebells or cheap iron weights.

http://www.newitts.com/product/IT014116/Kettlebell.htm&s=shop

That could be useful for someone?Obviously you still need to add P&P on but that still seems rather reasonable to me.

http://www.newitts.com/shop/1/12/Olympic_Weights.htm

A pair of 16kg Kettlebells was £42.64 plus £13.67 postage(cheapest option that)

A pair of 16kg kb's plus another 60 kg in iron weights was about £94 inc postage.

i know a few of you guys have got some of these KBs, post up your thoughts

i'm thinking about getting a 32, the price from newitts is a lot better than the 100 odd quid from powerseekers, and if the only difference is the handle thickness, then i can live with that

They're fine. Genesis has eleiko ones, they are EXACTLY the same but without the rubber base.

I love mine, best investment I made in training equipment in a while - I can do loads of challenging things with 2 x 20kg. I would have preferred thick handles but its not a biggie imo. Plus they're sooooo much cheaper than any other KB supplier and I just cant justify the cost they ask for the same thing. I'm looking to get a 24 and poss a 32 but the gym I currently use has a full range up to 44kg so maybe it'd be a bit pointless at this time. Would buy again though.

Can you tell me what benefits I would get from a KB?
They get so much publicity these days but the cynic in me says that they're just the latest fitness fad!

Good for explosive/DE training along side your Maximum effort stuff, be good if you were on a Westside type split, lots of talk of them in powerlifting routines over on elitefts.com.

Aside from that their great for conditioning and GPP, using them for swings, snatches and C&J also stresses the prosterior chain a lot, swings = hamsting death for me.

Also I find lifts like the snatch are generally more challenging with them due to the way the fulcrum of the weight changes.

Andy (pikeking) and Alex G can both prob explain a lot better/fuller reasoning.

i'm getting out of the habit of doing length explanations, all i'll say though, if i tell you to do it because its good, you better damn well do it because its bloody good!

Number 1 reason I use KBs, they are fun!

They lend themselves to conditioning work really well, I much prefer them to doing BB complexs and the like

The 3 core lifts are all great for the hams and butt plus as there is little spinal compression

Bought 2 x 16kg 'cos Andy told me to.Or else he's sending the boys around.Soon.And they're carrying too.

Plus 6 x 15kg weights and handles too and some other bits.Shame I don't live in York as there would have been no postage to pay. That cost about £37.00.Still it worked out reasonable esp when you see how much some KB's cost.Still cheap enough.

I would have preferred thick handles...

The newitts ones have handles about 1.5 times thicker than the russian kettlebell ones

I can agree with that reasoning!

Its the main thing I've noticed using them, ham involvement big time, good thing been as it was a bit of a weaker area for me.

Ok, on a limited budget, what would you suggest I should buy (what weight(s))?

GoldenArrow

What do you want to do with them? It's like saying "what dumbells should I get"....do you want to do rotator cuff work or deadlifts!

For swinging about lark, you'd want a 28 i'd say.

General GPP/conditioning-swinging around could be good!
So thats one 28 kilo KB?

To start with. Then I'd build up to 32-36 and then buy another of the smaller one.

Just as an update,I received my weights and kbs today(tues) after placing the order late sunday.Fast delivery and all items very securely packaged.I paid about £1 per kg (including postage) for the kbs and cast iron weights which is equivalant to the cheapest places that I have found on the web (which you normally still need to add postage onto too). They work out the same per kg as buying the ones from Argos on the high street, but its always a pain getting them home on the bus ;-)

In addition to which the weight/cost ratio does not take into account that there are kettlebells there too, esp.when you look at how much they cost elsewhere. So,good items, good packaging and fast delivery.Only problem being that I sliced my finger open on my left hand opening the damn stuff and it kept spurting blood everywhere!

Have ordered a 24kg KB.
Hoping to use it for GPP and recovery work.
I'm looking forward to the 'fun', PK!
