Right chaps and chapesses after a bit of banter in the Rolling Thunder review thread http://www.iron-city.net/showthread.php?t=13 I'm trying to put together a support grip comp.
3 events
1. Rolling Thunder Max Pull
2. 2" bar double overhand hold for max time
3. Oly bar mixed grip hold for max time.
The first one is quite straight forward.
The other 2 we need to come up with some weights. For the 2" hold what about a total weight (includes bar) of 110kg. For the oly bar mixed grip how about 160kg?
To some of you these may seem light but we want as many people to enter this as possible.
Feedback please.

sounds good, 2" bar sounds about right as long as it is double overhand, i think the oly bar weight might be a little low though.

Well as you say you don't want to make it out of reach of the majority but equally you don't want people holding on for minutes, i think 180 with a mixed grip is a good middle ground, after all you don't have to deadlift it.

My take:
The first one is quite straight forward.
Cool.

Max time with 130kg at least. Is should be D/O and the weight should be pulled off the pins, not deadlifted up.
For the oly bar mixed grip how about 160kg?
Not sure about that, i know you that as many people as possible to enter, but i think thats waaay to light. 200kg at least imo. This is a grip comp after all. IMO it would be better for all to say max weight held for 10seconds mixed grip, that way anyone can enter, but its not too easy for some of us :)

I see where you're coming from Rob, but I think you forget that your grip is very strong. Some of the 'strongest' guys at my gym can double overhand 100kg on a 2 incher.
I think I'm gonna go for 190kg on the oly bar mixed grip, no reason why we can increase the weight on both of these catergories as time goes by.

He he. I take you mean't "can't" not "can".

Sounds good. I am gunning for 60+seconds with that. :)

Tough call cos the rolling thunders are so damn exspensive whilst everyone uses an oly bar. Set a figure of say 200kg total on an oly bar and have a 180kg catagory and a 250kg catagory for beasts.

well u just enter the catergories you can so there'll be a RT list, a 2" list and a oly bar list or something :017:
Cool. Get the comp going, i am sheduled to do grip work tomorrow and i need to know what weightes to use.

Hmm i will have a thing about something to do with hand grippers too, based on my coc2 left handed close and my RB180 ip close i should be somewhere up the ranking ;)
The rb 180 is way harder than a coc2 btw
I am still about an inch of closing that fcukign RB 240ip. Its a fat bastard.

Ive got the 210ip next, then 240, then 260 by the time i can do the 260 i think the coc 3 will be like an Argos gripper
LOL. I went to allsports the other day and saw a guy that goes to my gym, he remembered that i did grip training and asked me if this "Golds Gym" gripper was any good (allsports product). I said "No." He asked "Why?" I said watch this, and shut it 10-20x with my just index finger and thumb (inverted). He put it back on the shelf and asked me what he should do instead of buy one of them, i gave him your [GrippDogg] email addy to get a thick bar, i don't reckon he'll buy it though. :(

cheers Rob, so many people i know want a strong grip but want me to lend em the kit etc, they can buy it the same as i did, my mate said you dont need your coc1 anymore why not give it to me! No! Dont think so.
I lend my CoC#1 out now and again. But they can fcuk off if they think they are having it for keeps.
