View Full Version : Best exercises to improve sprinting?
what exercise do you guys think would be best to improve my sprinting?
any ideas welcome
cheers Ben
Sprinting mate! Getting your technique assessed would be a massive boost to your sprinting.
Also any Olympic Sprints and DE exercises are going to help, not just lower body though because don't forget your lower body moves in relationsion to your upper
3 x bw squat will be a good place to start!

calf, hamstring and hipflexor flexibility is very important
Get one of Alex golds Sleds and get sprinting with that.

tbh. a sprint parachute would be a lot better than a sled in terms of training effect, practicality and cost.
More practical? I'd say not, nor so versatile for other excercises, or even in terms of adjustability of load. Also a sprint parachute is less readily avaialble, and profits would go to some sports company as oppose to Alex making a few bob (he doesn't make much) who has been a helpful member of the commnuities and a friend to many aswel.

Not being funny, but I'd not buy a piece of fitness equipment that I believed to be inferior for my training goals because I knew the guy who made it. That said, I'm poor and a git, so maybe that's just me.
I'm not saying the sled isn't an awesome piece of kit for a whole host of weights exercises and GPP work (it is), but purely for the purposes of sprint training i.e. the area of physical training which Jamin seems to be interested, I'd use a chute over a sled due to the different resistive properties of each: The sled is far more likely to dick about with the sprinter's technique due to the direction of application of resistance.
For practicality, I'd say it would be easier to carry a 500g chute to your local park or running track than a steel sled and a pile of plates.
Chutes are easily available online: www.physicalcompany.com in the UK and http://www.power-systems.com/nav/closeup.aspx?c=19&g=1326 in the US (generally cheaper to have fitness equipment shipped from the US these days).
A Chute why didnt i thing of that, cheers Scourge :023:
A sleds a good idea but cost of it plus the plates is to much and carrying the thing about like Scourge said would be a hassle as im sharin a car at the min.
