V-Flex XT Fight Shorts

http://www.sprawl.tv/p_v_flex_xt.html

Very nice piece of fightwear: An incredibly light pair of shorts made of stretch fabric, with additional v. stretchy panels on the inside leg and a split seam up the outside so they offer absolutely free movement.

The material seems solid and the and stitching looks pretty-much bomb-proof. An internal drawstring and a heavy velcro adjustment on the waistband mean they won't be going anywhere, even if you're sparring hard.

TBH my experience of fight shorts is somewhat limited, but I cannot think of any way that these shorts could be improved for my purposes (no-gi grappling), except for the inclusion of a concealed spring-loaded lever for flipping opponents off of me: "Side control this, fool!"

Very chuffed with these.

Long Sleeve Loose Fit Grappling Top

Another very nice piece of kit.

I had bought this to wear under my gi as I get major friction burns all over the place during gi training, especially on my lower arms, hence the decision to go with the long-sleeved variant, but wore it tonight for no-gi training: The loose fit of the thing makes it more comfortable than my tight-fit rashguard (a surfing rashguard, but it does the job) and a damn sight easier to get off after training, but I do have two minor issues with it:

1) It seems to hold more sweat than my tight-fit rashguard although this effect could simply be down to the fact that my surfing rashguard has much thinner material. Not really an issue in terms of its intended purpose (friction burn avoidance), but would be nice if the material didn't hold so much water.

2) My instructor thinks it's not great for no-gi BJJ because the loose fit makes it a lot easier to grab onto. This is probably much less of a problem for MMA (the sport for which they were designed) training than it is for pure BJJ training, but still worth noting. Also, not a problem for me as I intend to wear it under my gi: Was just trying it out tonight.

Also, the material seems to be a little thinner than that used in KMP's ATAMA rashguard, but looks solid enough nevertheless.

A word on SPRAWL in general: Their customer services are fcuking awesome. The whole order was dispatched about 12 hours after it was placed. The time difference between here and the US helps them in that regard, but it's still damn impressive. Their prices also seem pretty good, both in comparison to other fightwear companies and objectively, given how weak the dollar is right now. I had my order shipped to a US address but their overseas shipping seems v. cheap also.

Bottom line: Very pleased indeed.
