whats the story behind the goat? looks like its about to get done over

well...

Now to the goat story, before I begin I should like to say that while I am not proud of what I am about to recount, I am not ashamed, I am only human, and I think the very fact that all but 1 of 23 otherwise sane, rational and for want of a better word 'good' people all consented to this act is as lucid a demonstration of human beings' bloodlust as any you shall encounter. We stayed for a night and a day at a Cheetah farm, the purpose of which is to capture wild Cheetahs in danger of being shot by farmers intolerant of their taking livestock, and relocate them to countries such as Tanzania and Kenya with protected national parks and a shortage of these majestic animals. Contiguous to the two square mile Cheetah enclosure is a field of goats, the farm's main source of income, now I forget quite who's idea it was to purchase a goat for the Cheetahs' daily feeding as opposed to the steaks we were to be watching them feed on, but so it came to be that with a little persuasion from myself and two other more morally bankrupt of our party that we each paid around four dollars for the procurement of one most unfortunate goat who was then released into the enclosure just metres from the jeeps we were touring the facility in, the only non conspirator in this animal's sacrifice, a young vegetarian girl, wept the entire time, while the rest of us delighted with sickened awe as seven Cheetahs killed and devoured the victim of our sadistic voyeurism, after five minutes all that remained were some bloodstains and a rib cage, you could hear the bones cracking as they tore through viscera and ripped it's limbs off.

yep, a friend of mine emailed me these. i went there years ago and went really far up north to a place called Gilgit, and it was all cold and snowy mountains and the people there were really different, looked like mongolians and stuff.

i just wish i had a digital camera with me then. the best thing about Pakistan in terms of scenery is that it is so diverse, like America, you have desert, greenery, mountains, rivers, everything.

Kashmir is sort of situated right under the Himalayas.

depends where you go. apparantly the really beautiful bit (the bit that many say is paradise on earth) is the bit that the Indians have and thats where the clashes and stuff happen. the bit under Pakistani 'rule' is trouble free and still nice.

thing is with that region of the world now theres just alot going on. the north bit of Pakistan, where it meets Afghanistan is meant to be gorgeous.

easy, go to advanced posting mode, type in some characters otherwise it wont let you post (have to be different each time) go to manage attachments and upload pic. when done - submit.

you may need to resize pics which is easy too - use this http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

right click on pic(s) and select resize, medium is fine.

Narc
18-06-2006, 11:53
Bummer.

Just outside of Cape Town, place called Dyer Island (otherwise known as Shark Alley) just a couple miles off the coast of Gansbaai. The company i went with picked me up from my hostel in Cape Town, drove me to Gansbaai 2 hours away, fed me breakfast in this bizarre cafe devoted to sharks, lunch on the boat, gave me two 15 minute dives in the cage, 5 hours on the boat including a tour round the seal colony the sharks feed off and some southern right wale watching, then drove me back again for £40, best £40 EVER spent, the ****ing 4hr roundtrip taxi ride alone would cost three times that over here.

DMPM
18-06-2006, 12:16
£40!

Bloody hell, that's fantastic...

Narc
18-06-2006, 13:30

BTW, that goat story is awesome. Only thing better that I've heard is this guy I work with went to Cambodia and went to a firing range where they were shooting AK47s etc.

The guy who runs it them offered them a "special" deal, where they could shoot an RPG. He brings out the RPG then walks a cow onto the field, which they were meant to shoot at. The guy missed and then the owner tried to give him the cow because he'd paid for it. LOL.

The guy explained that there wasn't much he could do with a cow, so the owner sold him some more grenades until he hit it.

No I never went, I did go to Cusco the town nearest the ruins but never made it to machu piccu.

I heard the trek up there was littered with rubbish and the tourists were spoiling the natural beauty of the area.

I'd spent about 5 days in Cusco before heading off to the Bolivian border and Lake Titicaca.

The next 3 are of what is possibly my favourite beach in Cornwall, it's only there for a few hours at high tide, the nearest road is miles away, it's not signposted, not on any maps other than the OS one, you have to climb down the cliff on a rope at one point to get to it and consequently no-one knows about it or goes there, it's name shall remain a secret i carry to my grave. It has a little cave with it's own little beach in but you have to swim to it so i couldn't get a picture
