I offer this not for sympathy (fat chance!) but as a warning to anyone who fails to 'listen' to their bodies.
I suffered this injury at the beginning of a friendly game of football. I simply set off to chase after the ball and immediately felt the muscle tear. It was extremely painful and debilitating. The area swelled up and immobilised my lower leg.
Im having physio treatment to rehab my leg but its not going to be easy and its going to take time. The whole area is badly bruised and still swollen. I cant put any weight through my toes and walk with great difficulty. (strangely I can squat as long as weight is through the heels!)
Before the game I had felt some stiffness in that area of my calve but I'd dismissed it as doms (only one leg doh!). I warmed up and thought nothing more of it
I can honestly say that this has been the most painful and frustrating injury I can remember and thats from a long list that includes a herniated disk, popped shoulder, Rib cartlidge. dislocated wrist, torn ankle ligaments (rugby injuries) plus the usual pulled hams/groin etc etc.
Be warned!!!!!!!

I pulled a quad in rugby practice a few weeks ago, luckily I was able to squat again within a week... but the first few days were fcuking awful, I couldn't walk or anything, I looked like a right twat. When running I can still sometimes feel it but its getting better all the time :)

I can only imagine what it must be like to put up with that for weeks or even months... **** that!!!

Had another Physio session this afternoon and it has helped though the back of my leg looks black with bruising.
I've got another session on Friday. Aim is to be able to walk properly by monday!

You did say you didn't start this thread because you wanted sympathy, but I can sympathise with you.

Best of luck.

Thanks AD!. Its frustratingly slow and painful progress.
Can you imagine the amount of piss-taking I'll get if I cant walk properly when I go back to school on Monday!!!
