HOW DID YOU DO?

Looking back at my old journal on IC I can see that:

(from Jan 05)

Acheivements:
*Ive gained a stone of lean mass.

*I blew my squat out of the water (at one point) taking it from a half squat 110x3x6 to a 160x1 parallel.

*Ive started OHP'ing properly (i only used to lower bar to eye level) and my sho's have grown like ****

*Ive learnt somerthing about the science and pshyiology of lifting

*ive learnt to bench

*ive put BW overhead

BIGGEST ACHEIVEMENT - *ive sucessfully designed and implemented a program to combat subscap impingement which was really hindering my lifting.

Disacheivements:
*DL has gone no where. Down if anythinfg

*I have no TVA's, I dont know if i ever had but i defo dont now.

*I have very little CV fitness

BIGGEST DISACHEIVEMENT - *ive (twice now) strained a ligament in my back (poss. disc damage now) that will almost certainly be a problem for the rest of my lifting career

2005 not that good for me, although I've started to turn things around.

Didn't have access to a gym until about April, which didn't help. Have gained about 20kg pretty lean bodyweight since then. Improved my OH strength a lot, got myself flexible enough to squat again, improved my squat towards the end of the year and improved my training knowledge quite significantly since January.

Downsides? Still not as strong as I was in many respects two years ago at 75kg, I've lost interest in powerlifting as a sport, which has left me without a lot of reason to train other than the fact that I enjoy it and I've got tendonitis in my patellar tendons post-Smolov that I still haven't gotten rid of yet.

Hmm, my achievements have been:

Lifting my biggest bench press since screwing my shoulders up a couple of years ago, adding about 15kg over the year, mostly due to better technique I think (thanks to Alex).

Learned a lot.

Squatting properly for the first time.

Downsides:
Ridiculously injury prone.

Deadlift less than last year (if I can deadlift at all).

Posture's awful.

I'm obese.

Conditioning is shocking.

So not really the best of years... Fingers crossed for 2006.

hmmmm

I dont think I have really progressed at all in 2005.

I may be a little more flexible and I probably finished the year fitter than I started it.

I didn't do any proper training to speak of in 2005 until I started those 20 rep squats at the end of the year. They definately gave me the spark of enthusiasm back.

I always spend a few month training the packed it in, lose any progress I do make then start again six months later.

I'm at the jacking in point now, but I've promised myself in 2006 that i'll periodise and plan my training and get a full 12 month of training in.

I think I just get sick of the routine, with no planned exit plan it just becomes boring.

I've always to trained to failure too, all the time, so perhaps i'm giving myself too much stress with proper deloading/periodisation.

2005 was not so good for me training-wise.

My body hurts constantly from work. At the beginning of 2005 I couldn't even squat 60kg without back pain, so I suppose the best thing of 2005 was when I decided to stop beating myself up about it and try to do something about it. This involved stopping squatting for quite some time which was very difficult.

I've seen progress towards the end of 2005 since I've been working on posture, flexibility etc., and also work a lot less. I'm able to squat and train again, although I'm pitifully weak atm. Hopefully will make good progress in 2006.

I learnt to power bench, though I don't enjoy doing it and probably won't do much benching in 2006.

I finaly benched over 100kg (105kg @72kg bw.)

Started Squatting and finished the year with a 130kg squat to parallel.

Started DLing and pulled 170kg @ 72kg bw. at the end of the year.

Goals for 2006 are: 125kg bench, 160kg squat, 200kg DL @75kg bw.

I put 22.5kg on my squat, which was good.

Only a tad on my bench, but that was from a dodgy touch and go to a proper paused bench, so probably 5-10kg in reality.

Deadlift went no where. 2.5kg. :(
