is good posture maintained or just simply "is"?

like, if i slouch i have crap posture right?

so if i suck it all in and pull my shoulders back consciously then i have good posture right?

so then it would be something that is maintained right?

i guess what im trying to ask is "can i have good posture without consciously pulling/holding/bracing muscles"?

Well eventually you become accustomed (sp...?) to it and you stop having to think about it all the time. Better would be to do specific exercises to improve your posture too.

if you have the correct length/tension relationships you stand in good posture, sit in good posture, whatever, without concious thought.

mmm, so looks like at first you have to earn it then it just maintains itself - through regular posture work. cool.
