I know 666 has a front squat thread going, but mines slightly different so thought I'd start my own.
As I'm switching from Jefferson to front squat tomorrow I've been practicing my form in a mirror (no weight).
Not sure if I'm lacking in flexibility at the mo ro what but it does seem pretty hard to keep my balance!! I stand about shoulder width stance and as I get to the bottom I feel like I'll fall forwards, also I don't get my thighs to parallel. If I try to get lower I have tos it back, then I feel like I'm going to fall backwards.
How deep should I be going and what should I be concentrating on to stop feel like I'm falling forwards?

Hard to tell unless we can see a video. Also remember that the lift will feel different if you're loaded with a weight.

Fronts squats should be pretty deep. ATG would be favourite.

Yeah, Id agree with that. I find it very easy to get ATG on front squats.
It will feel different when the bar is chocking you though! ;)

Well, tomorrow will tell :) ATG = Arse to Ground? I'll have to do a few stretches before hand to help me. I'll be keeping the weight light to start with so that I can get used to it.

Close enough. Arse to Grass.

ATG with feet totally flat to floor? If I force myself lower I tend to roll onto my heels more. I guess as yous aid, having weight on the bar will make a difference, as it should counterbalance me against falling backward.
Reckon I had better get the crash helmet & bodyarmour out for tomorrows session ;)

I find it impossible to front squat properly to depth without the weight on to counter balance me - that might help a bit. Or it might just be cos I'm rubbish, take your pick.

by the sounds of things (bar rolling forward) your doing cross-over grip. Try using clean grip, it'll sort this problem.

I was using clean grip, but a bar with no weight on, so falling backwards at bottom.
Tried them today and as people on here have said, it's much easier with weight on the bar!! I had no problem getting depth, it felt like my arse was nearly touching the floor, but I'd have to see it to get a good idea of depth really. I got a little too low on last set, as I mentioend in my journal ;)
