i'm not slating them in a general sense, great for bulking and postworkout but crap if you are trying to reduce bodyfat

Yes, but if you lack the will power to not just have 'the odd one' on a cut, which Fred does (no disrespect), then IMO it's better to avoid all together so he doesn't get the taste for them
